Other protection techniques:

You can use lots of things to protect you from magick, energy and spiritual influence.

Universal Light / SUN / Fire- visualize it and direct it where it needs to go. If you feel a tickle or get a whiff of something headed your way, snuff it out immediately.

Stones & Herbs- as you learn correspondences, you'll find many herbs and stones align well with protective magick, warding and repelling.

Here's a few of my favorites for each:

Protection Herbs

  • Juniper

  • Mullein

  • Rosemary

  • Nettle

  • Thistle

  • Cedar

  • Asafoetida

Protection Crystals

  • Black Tourmaline

  • Black Obsidian

  • Fluorite

  • Hematite

  • Jet

  • Malachite

  • Pyrite

Talismans & Amulets

Amulets and talismans are magic charms that are worn to ensure spiritual power or to ward off evil.

Amulets: These are good luck charms meant to offer protection. The word "amulet" comes from the Latin word amuletum, which means "an object that protects a person from trouble". Anything can function as an amulet; items commonly used include gems, statues, coins, drawings, plant parts, animal parts, and written words.

Amulets are often employed to ward off negative energy, evil spirits, or even illness. Some amulets you probably recognize include the crucifix, garlic, and horseshoes. Amulets can be worn, carried or placed near a key location where you want protection. Amulets are sometimes confused with pendants, small aesthetic objects that hang from necklaces. Any given pendant may indeed be an amulet but so may any other object that purportedly protects its holder from danger.

Talismans: These work a bit differently from Amulets. A Talisman is an object that provides a particular power, energy, or other specific benefits when worn or used. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn defines a Talisman as "a magical figure charged with the force which it is intended to represent." Talismans can be used for protection, but they are not limited to only that.

Dirts, Powders, Waters & Oils

Some popular conjure and magickal blends offer excellent protection to the one who wears or uses it. Here are a few...

  • Witch's Black Salt

  • Red Brick Dust

  • Graveyard Dirt

  • Crossroads Dirt

  • Blessed or Holy Water

  • Fiery Wall of Protection Oil

  • Cascarilla

  • Anvil Dust
